چکیده
Establishing suitable probabilistic seismic demand models (PSDMs) is a key part of the performance-based method. Intensity measures (IMs) are used as connection between earthquake hazard and response in engineering. This study identifies optimal intensity for steel Modular Building Systems (MBSs) subjected to near-field ground motions. It achieved by performing Cloud analysis utilizing two sets motions: 72 pulse-like 120 non-pulse-like The nonlinear time history carried out using finite-element model 6-story mid-rise MBS. For this aim, total 36 scalar were collected. Based on large number regression analyses IMs Engineering Demand Parameters studied MBS, selected evaluated several criteria, including correlation, efficiency, practicality, sufficiency, proficiency. Finally, framework PSDMs, different fragility curves generated

Selection of Optimal Intensity Measure for Seismic Assessment of Steel Buckling Restrained Braced Frames under Near-Fault Ground Motions
Buckling restrained braces (BRBs) have a similar behavior under compression and tension loadings. Therefore, they can be applied as a favorable lateral load resisting system for structures. In the performance-based earthquake engineering (PBEE) framework, an intermediate variable called intensity measure (IM) links the seismic hazard analysis with the structural response analyses. An optimal IM...
متن کاملSeismic Behavior of Jacket Offshore Platform Subjected to Near and Far Field Ground Motions
Offshore structures such as jacket platforms have to inevitably be designed against sever environmental actions. In seismically active areas these structures also become susceptible to earthquake excitations. Strong ground motions recorded in recent earthquakes, including the 1995 Kobe, Japan, 1999 Chi-chi, Taiwan and 1999 Kocaeli, Turkey earthquakes, revealed that the dynamic motions in nea...

متن کاملSeismic Fragility Assessment of Steel SMRF Structures under Various Types of Near Fault Forward Directivity Ground Motions
In this paper, the seismic collapse probability of special steel moment-resisting frame (SSMRF) structures under near fault pulse-like and far fault ordinary ground motions is evaluated through fragility analysis. For this purpose, five sample frames with 3 to 15 stories are designed and imposed to the ground motion excitations with different characteristics. Fragility curves are derived for th...
متن کاملPerformance of Mid-rise Buildings with Tubular Structure Under the Effect of Near Field Earthquakes
The aim objective of this study is to investigate the effects of near-field earthquakes on the response of mid-rise buildings with tubular structure. For this purpose, a 20-story building with a square plan of six by six bays, all with 6 m span, and story height of 3.70 m is considered. Axial force of columns, shear lag, and inter-story drift values are used as the main response parameters. N...
